Vincenzo Italiano claims ‘football is unpredictable’ as Spezia earned all three points against Napoli in their ‘worst game.’

The newly promoted Serie A side won 2-1 at the Stadio Maradona despite being reduced to 10 men and have now earned 11 of their 14 points away from home.

“Football can be strange and unpredictable,” Italiano told DAZN.

“We earned three points against a top team in our worst game. We needed these three points so much. It will give us enthusiasm, the last period has been difficult.

“We earned three points against a top team in our worst game. We needed these three points so much. It will give us enthusiasm, the last period has been difficult.

“It was hard to play with 10 men, the lads deserve the praise because they never gave up. The season is still long, we have so much work to do, we need to face the next game with the same courage.”

Tommaso Pobega, a product of Milan academy, came off the bench and scored the winner in the second half.

“Both him and [Emmanuel] Gyasi did well. The idea was to change the game somehow and we made it. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. They both helped us.”
