“We need to improve our consistency over the 90 minutes, because despite defeats against the big clubs, we have often played pretty well,” the coach told DAZN.

“There was always a little something lacking, so today we want to find that and build some momentum.”

The Viola are coming off 3-0 victories over Cagliari and Spezia, but interrupted by a 1-0 loss away to Lazio.

They are an all or nothing team under former Spezia coach Italiano, not playing out a single stalemate this season, with seven victories and five defeats between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

“The lads are doing really well both in attack and defence. They have quality, dynamism, they sacrifice themselves and put in a strong performance against Cagliari.

“This is a difficult and important test, we’ll see what we are capable of.”
