Vincenzo Italiano is confident Fiorentina can ‘cause problems’ for Napoli tomorrow and trusts Dusan Vlahovic is fully focused on the Viola.

It kicks off on Sunday at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).

This is a battle also between two of the most effective centre-forwards in Serie A, Dusan Vlahovic and Victor Osimhen, while Jose Callejon could start against his former club.

Vlahovic has still not signed a new contract with the Viola, which irritated President Rocco Commisso.

“We have already said that it’s a personal matter and the important thing is that Dusan works hard in training and matches,” replied Italiano in his press conference when asked about the growing tension.

“Dusan certainly doesn’t lack character. He’s been negotiating a new contract since the start of the season and we’ve seen his performances, so there’s nothing to worry about there.

“Gaetano Castrovilli is still out, while Riccardo Saponara worked separately due to an inflammation of the collateral ligament, so we’ll see if he makes it.

“We know how important this match is, the difficulties that we face against the league leaders.

“If we took space away from Osimhen, we’d open it up for Matteo Politano or Lorenzo Insigne. Napoli have so many quick players who can create something out of nothing at any moment, not to mention their attacking full-backs and midfielders with long-range shots.

“We need to be perfect, totally balanced from start to finish. It’s a long season, so the result won’t be decisive for anyone, but it is currently between first and fifth.

“Our objective this season is to stay in the top half of the table. As long as the team keeps performing at these levels, we set no limits. We intend to create a strong identity and then we’ll see what happens.

“I knew that Napoli would do well this season, as it was already such a strong squad, then added an experienced coach like Luciano Spalletti.”

Fiorentina have so far put in very good performances against big clubs like Roma and Inter, but without getting results.

“The fixture list didn’t help, because in seven rounds we’ve faced some of the strongest teams out there,” added Italiano.

“What I’m seeing is that we can have our say against anyone. We already caused problems for Inter and Roma, and tomorrow want to trouble Napoli.”
