Renowned journalist Enrico Mentana called Lukaku ‘Monza’s centre-back’ as he ironically commented on Inter‘s 2-2 draw at Monza that saw the Belgian amongst the worst performers of the night.

In addition to being one of the most reputed Italian journalists, Mentana is a keen and long-standing Nerazzurri fan, and he could not hold back his disappointment after watching his side being pegged back by Monza through a Luca Caldirola’s late equaliser.

“A deserved draw for Monza against Inter”, he wrote on his Facebook account after the match.

“I was particularly impressed by the display of Monza’s centre-back, Romelu Lukaku”.

Lukaku started on the bench against Raffaele Palladino’s outfit and came on to replace Edin Dzeko after 55 minutes, with his side trying to hold onto a 2-1 win.

His impact on the game, though, was disastrous, as he made a series of blatant mistakes and failed to create goal-scoring chances for the visitors at any point.

Last night’s was only Lukaku’s sixth league appearance this season, with his only goal dating back to August, when he found the net against Lecce on Serie A opening day.

  1. Booing one of your own players really works wonders for their confidence. Why is it that Lukaku seems to be fair game for this type of criticism while most of the Inter players have generally played poorly in the league, especially seeing he has only played 6 not even full games. As Brendan Behan described critics – eunuchs in brothel – see it done every night but cannot do it themselves

  2. lol grandpa Peter Foolraro actually thinks that I am this Solo character and that I support Inter. 😂
