“Udinese are an organised and very physical team who use the quality of their more technically-gifted players in attack,” said the coach in his press conference.

“They have linking players between the likes like Rodrigo De Paul and Rolando Mandragora who can do real damage. I would’ve preferred to play on Monday rather than Sunday, considering we and Roma played in the Europa League on Thursday.”

Inzaghi is on the verge of a sixth consecutive Serie A victory on the Aquile bench.

“Records are made to be broken, but I am above all interested in the team performances, as I remain convinced victories are a natural consequence of good football.

“We are in a positive period of form, but can and must improve further, as we know in Serie A there are dangers behind every corner and that includes Udinese.

“Lazio are having more consistency this season compared to other years, and perhaps compared to other teams too. I personally thought we played well even when we didn’t get the results and were criticised.

“We are well aware that the other big clubs, who have deep squads, will catch up eventually, so when the time comes, we’ve got to block out criticism and focus on ourselves.

“I always had faith in this team, so I remained in the role with enthusiasm and belief. We can maintain this position in the table.”

Inzaghi confirms Adam Marusic, Jordan Lukaku, Patric and Valon Berisha are out injured.
