“Sassuolo are the real surprise outfit of the season so far. They are sixth in the table, play really good football and take a positive approach, so it’s going to be very difficult for us tomorrow,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Lucas Leiva, Milan Badelj and Senad Lulic took part in training both yesterday and today, so I’ll have to discuss it with them and the medical staff. I also have to evaluate Adam Marusic and Ciro Immobile, who have pain after the Europa League.

“I am convinced Luis Alberto can return to his levels. He is working hard and we’ll see tomorrow if he starts or comes off the bench. Felipe Caicedo needs more tests, but we certainly won’t see him before the break for international duty.”

This will be a special game for former Sassuolo star Francesco Acerbi, now a rock in the Lazio defence.

“I was adamant about wanting to sign him and in these first 15 games he has shown that he can replace Stefan de Vrij. Acerbi is the first to arrive for training and the last to leave. He’s had a great impact at Lazio.”

Lazio beat Olympique Marseille midweek in the Europa League, securing their qualification for the next round with two games to spare.

“We are happy to be the first Italian team qualified for the knockouts. We’ve got a strong squad and it’s the second year in a row we’ve qualified early. Now we must learn from our mistakes and not repeat them.”
