Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi concedes he “would have liked to play at the weekend”, while Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto will be evaluated.

The Biancocelesti secured a win over Frosinone on Monday night, but they are back in action just days later as they host Empoli on Thursday.

Inzaghi admits he would have preferred a longer break between the two games to allow his players some rest but is confident his side will produce a performance.

“The boys are physically tired but not mentally,” he said in his Press conference.

Inzaghi admits he would have preferred a longer break between the two games to allow his players some rest but is confident his side will produce a performance.

“The boys are physically tired but not mentally,” he said in his Press conference.

“I’m sure we’ll play a great game. We were aware of this possibility going forward on all three fronts.

“Twenty days ago we didn’t know we would play on Thursday, we would have preferred to play at the weekend.”

The 42-year-old then provided an update on the fitness of attacking duo Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto.

“We’ll work more on video and less on the pitch today, and then tomorrow morning we’ll have another short training session,” he added.

“There doesn’t seem to be an injury for either of them so we’re hopeful, but they’ll be evaluated tomorrow.”

Finally, Inzaghi discussed Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s improved form but reiterated the team had to keep producing collectively.

“I think he’s improved the team a lot in the last two months, from the goal against Torino to the match against Juventus. It’s important that Lazio move forward though, it’s not the individual that wins you matches,” he concluded.
