The Aquile had the better of the first half with several good chances, but fell apart after the break.

“Unfortunately we were unable to make our performance count with a goal, Inter soaked up pressure and emerged in the long-run,” Inzaghi told Mediaset Premium.

“A team like ours cannot concede three goals in 12 minutes. After the Ever Banega opener, we didn’t react, we were not a team and the match was transformed. We basically left the pitch after that goal.

“Unfortunately we do tend to concede a lot of goals in the second half, 17 out of 20, and need to analyse why that keeps happening. We’re in a decent position in the table, but can’t make the step up in quality if we lose our concentration.

“Lately we do struggle to react once we concede a goal and there are real regrets that we came away empty handed after that first half performance at San Siro. We seemed to be in control up until that point.”

The Coach was asked why Keita Balde Diao was on the bench, as Senad Lulic formed part of a more unusual trident attack.

“If we had finished the first half 2-0 up, nobody could’ve complained. Keita has a knee problem, he wanted to play and I opted for Lulic in that position. I think the first half performance backed up my decision."
