“We should’ve been sharper in front of goal. I am very happy with the performance, so there are regrets over the result,” the Coach told Rai Sport.
“We dominated the match for 70 minutes, then the one time the ball fell into the box and we risked losing. We ought to do well in the home leg.”
Lazio are still in the running for the Coppa Italia, Europa League and currently sit third in Serie A.
“The last six months have been extraordinary, but the difficult part is now. We must do well to balance out our efforts over three tournaments, as we want to keep going.”
Cutrone scored with his arm in Milan’s 2-1 Serie A win on Sunday and had protested his innocence at the weekend, but after the final whistle this evening, the striker apologised in person to Inzaghi.
“I complimented him for being a very good player. With regards to Sunday, he realised it was a foul, but perhaps at the time he hadn’t noticed, the way most of us hadn’t noticed.
“Not even the VAR officials saw it. He apologised to me, but I told him that was not necessary.”
Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij missed out with an injury, but there are reports he won’t sign a new contract after all, so could leave as a free agent next season.
“He is a very intelligent lad and fond of Lazio. I hope he can remain with us, as he is a leader, a pillar of our defence. We are evaluating the situation and hope for the all-clear.”
