Simone Inzaghi said Lazio “want to compete on all three fronts” after beating Fiorentina 1-0 to reach the Coppa Italia semi-final.

An early Senad Lulic goal proved enough at the Stadio Olimpico and they’ll go on to face either Milan or Inter next month.

“I am satisfied. It was a great first half and the only regret is not going into the break with a bigger advantage. Fiorentina then made some changes and we started defending deeper, but their only real chance was from Federico Chiesa and Thomas Strakosha did really well to save it,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“Perhaps we went too deep, but let’s also not forget Fiorentina have won four of their last six games and are in good condition. We had to suffer as a team, we kept another clean sheet and ultimately didn’t allow many chances.

“We have a very busy season, but we’re very happy, because we wanted this semi-final and it was important to us. We want to keep pushing in Serie A and the Europa League too, as we want to compete on all three fronts.”

Ciro Immobile came on after 26 minutes due to Felipe Caicedo’s muscular injury, but wasn’t meant to take part after suffering from flu symptoms.

“Immobile hasn’t trained for two days, he had some trouble with a slight fever overnight. I wanted to rest him and if necessary use him only for the final 30 minutes, but Caicedo felt this problem behind his thigh and we’ll see what the tests say. It’s a pity, as Caicedo was doing really well.

“Felipe Anderson’s condition is improving, he will help us a great deal going forward this season. He can be a support striker or a winger, but I don’t think he can work as a centre-forward.”

Inzaghi was asked if Stefan de Vrij will sign a new contract and whether Martin Caceres will arrive from Hellas Verona in January.

“There will be time to talk about the market. Before then we have another three days to recover and then the game against Inter.

“I’ve already said De Vrij is a champion, we hope he remains and we’ll see. Caceres is a player I like, but we’ll see after January 6 what to do on the market, both coming in and going out.”
