Simone Inzaghi said Lazio know ‘we must play the perfect match’ but claimed they are facing Juventus ‘at the right time’.

The Biancocelesti arrive after a 2-0 defeat to Bologna last time but had more time to prepare for the match against the Old Lady due to Torino not travelling to Rome for their midweek game on Tuesday.

“I think tomorrow’s match arrives at the right time,” Inzaghi said at a press conference. “We have defections like Juventus have.

“The match in Turin will be decisive for the table, it will be very important. It comes after the unexpected knockout against Bologna.

“We know we must play the perfect match.”

Asked if Lazio are planning any tactical changes, Inzaghi said he still has time to decide.

“We tried some alternatives. We have objective difficulties with the absences of Radu, Luiz Felipe and [Manuel] Lazzari.

“I still have 24 hours to decide, we also have a light session tomorrow.”

Lazio have lost back-to-back games, as they didn’t manage to respond after the 4-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

“We knew there would be five to six teams in the race,” Inzaghi said. “We and Atalanta try to keep up with rest.

“We have made a good run-up, then we lost ground after Bologna. I think Tuesday’s break allowed us to analyse where we made mistakes against Bayern and with Bologna.

“Where we didn’t react to two negative games.”

Ciro Immobile missed a penalty against the Rossoblu and Inzaghi said the Italy international felt bad.

“He was very sorry, he felt guilty for having missed the penalty,” Inzaghi added. “But it happens to everyone.

“I have seen him work in the best way, like everyone else.”

Inzaghi doesn’t think Juventus will be distracted by their appointment with FC Porto in the Champions League this week.

“We know them,” he said. “We have played a lot of Finals too.

“They’ll be focused on what happens on the pitch.

“It’s not easy to prepare football at the table. There will be moments in which we will have to stay high and other in which we will have to defend deep.

“The details will be decisive, as always. We know we can’t make mistakes and that it will be very difficult.

“Over the years, we have shown that we have always played it the right way. I don’t want to see that an episode can affect us: we must always stay in the game.”

Lazio have the worst attack among the top seven teams.

“Ahead of Bologna, we came from a long run of matches in which we scored,” the coach replied. “Tomorrow, we know what Juventus are, they play excellent football and are very well trained.”

Inzaghi said he hopes the Torino match, that wasn’t played, will be ‘clarified as soon as possible’.

“The clubs involved have already expressed their opinions,” he said. “I hope that this will be clarified as soon as possible.”

A report from Corriere della Sera suggested patron Claudio Lotito will sit down to renew with Inzaghi during the next international break.

“There’s not problem with Lotito,” Inzaghi said when asked about the renewal. “There’s harmony.”
