Petkovic’s future in the capital is in doubt given the club’s struggles this term and the fact that he has been linked with the Swiss national job.

Lazio have only won one of their last 10 games in Serie A, a run of form which has left them in twelfth place.

Inzaghi, a former Lazio striker and brother of Milan legend Pippo, is currently in charge of the side’s Allievi youth team.

The Corriere dello Sport claims Inzaghi could be a short-term replacement until the possible arrival of Basel boss Murat Yakin.

Meanwhile, other reports suggest former Chievo tactician Domenico Di Carlo could take charge of the side until the end of the campaign.
