The Rossoblu had a golden opportunity to propel themselves away from the relegation zone, but the loss to their direct competitors means that they are now stuck with the bottom three, two points behind Udinese.

There was speculation after the game that the troublesome loss could spell the end of Inzaghi's tenure at Bologna, but early reports from Sky Sport Italia suggest that the club's higher echelons have decided against getting rid of SuperPippo.

What convinced them to keep Inzaghi was the attitude shown by his team, particularly in the second half of the game as the Rossoblu fought desperately to snatch a draw, showing the right conviction to move forwards.

“We created a lot, we just didn't have the right killer instinct," Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia. "Of course I'm pleased with the team's attitude.

“We had many chances to score and managed a lot of crosses into the box. When you can do that, it's not acceptable to score only one goal.

“I haven't spoken with any of the directors, I'll have a chat with the club tomorrow and they'll make their own decisions. But the lads are fighting and I firmly believe that staying in Serie A is possible.

“If that weren't the case, I'd be the first to take a step back. It's a tough situation, we'll go on working because what we've done so far is not enough.”

This means Inzaghi’s fate will be decided in next week’s clash against his old club Milan.
