The Rossoneri yet again fumbled a lead, this time falling at the Stadio Franchi in the final minute.

“We went back to playing the kind of football we used to and today I saw My Milan,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s a huge shame, as even a draw would’ve been harsh on us, yet we lost a game that we deserved to win.

“You cannot allow a side like Fiorentina to stay in the game. It’s a pity, but we have to look at the performance above all else. Tonight I could not have asked more from my players.”

Inevitably, this latest setback will fuel speculation Inzaghi is heading for the axe even before the end of the season.

“I am very relaxed, as we prepared well for this game and I think that was evident. When you lose a match that you deserved to win, it makes you even angrier. We must keep playing this football and make more of our chances.

“I put Alessio Cerci on to score a second goal, but not getting it was our only real fault tonight. We had a couple of important counter-attacks that we should’ve dealt with better.

“This defeat is tough to swallow, but we have to go forward. A Coach has to judge the performance.

“The future? I have a contract, then the club will consider the situation. The President calls me often, as does Adriano Galliani.

“We are not in a congenial position in the table, but from tonight we can get back to playing good football.

“I hope to be in this profession for 30 years. Milan did so much for me and I hope to stay for as long as possible.

“If they keep me, then good, otherwise I will continue along my path and work elsewhere. This is a type of work that I love, even if it occasionally brings nights like this, but that is football.”
