Simone Inzaghi warns all of their recent matches against Fiorentina have been ‘difficult’ and expects a similar experience for Inter, while also looking towards the Champions League group.

It kicks off at San Siro on Sunday at 17.30 UK time (16.30 GMT).

Francesco Acerbi, Stefano Sensi and Alexis Sanchez are still out of action, but Benjamin Pavard and Davy Klaassen are called up for their debuts.

“We started the season with great determination and must have the same attitude tomorrow in a very important game,” Inzaghi told Inter TV after winning the opening two rounds against Monza and Cagliari.

“Fiorentina are a very good team, they are well-organised and over the last few years we had many games against them, all of those difficult, so the initial approach is going to be crucial.”

This is effectively a replay of last season’s Coppa Italia Final, which saw Inter emerge victorious with a 2-1 result in May.

The Viola also won 1-0 at San Siro in Serie A in April, while the previous meeting was a 4-3 thriller.

Both teams changed a great deal over the transfer window and are still getting settled into their new forms.

“The lads have been working together on the principles of our approach and where we need to improve, but I am very satisfied so far. The new players are working well, it was a big change, losing some key players who did very well and bringing in important replacements. The more experienced ones will help the new elements settle as soon as possible.”

Inter are in the Champions League and were placed in a group with Benfica, RB Salzburg and Real Sociedad.

“Last season was an extremely tough group, but this year is very competitive too. We know Benfica and Salzburg, while Real Sociedad also play good football.”
