Pippo Inzaghi said Diego Lopez “will improve our squad” and hinted at Adel Taarabt’s return to Milan.

The Coach, who today celebrates his 41st birthday, spoke to MilanNews.it after it was announced the Real Madrid goalkeeper will undergo a medical on Tuesday.

“I am very happy, as Milan are doing things in the best way and I hope we can do well together with the team,” said Inzaghi.

“Diego Lopez is very important, an experienced goalkeeper who will improve our squad.”

The shot-stopper arrives on a free transfer from Real Madrid, owing the club only performance-related bonuses at the end of the season.

It’s reported he’ll sign a three-year contract worth €2.5m per year plus add-ons, a big drop from his original €4m demands.

“Have our prospects changed? We can only know that on the field, but we must continue working to be ready for August 31.”

Inzaghi was also asked about reports Milan are in negotiations with QPR to buy Taarabt for €5m after his six-month loan spell at San Siro.

“Will Taarabt be the gift for Ferragosto? We’ll see…”

Ferragosto is an Italian public holiday on August 15.
