Milan Coach Pippo Inzaghi has called for his squad to show enthusiasm and work ethic, as they have the best job in the world.

The new Rossoneri boss is currently preparing his team for their first match of pre-season and, speaking to Sport Mediaset, he expressed his determination to succeed in his first senior coaching role.

“I want a positive team who want to play from the heart in order to beat the opposition,” Inzaghi said.

“We have everything and we do the best job in the world. You can’t be sad and anyone who is out of the team needs to prove that I’m wrong. The Milan shirt must go back to mattering.

“This situation motivates me even more than ever because I know that people who give their best will get their rewards in the end.

“The fans will definitely see a team that fights and wants to achieve its targets by doing everything possible. Let’s see if that is enough.”

Inzaghi did not set any specific objectives for the campaign ahead but acknowledged it is up to his team to win back their supporters after a turbulent last year.

“Our target is to bring the fans back to San Siro and make sure they recognise this team.

“I’m not setting any limits, but I am a big believer in work and organisation.

“Our example should be Atletico Madrid and we will look to work well in order to achieve something.

“The club know what I have asked of them and they know my ideas on football. I have a preferred formation but I will decide with my staff which will be the one to get the best out of the team.”

Finally, the former striker revealed Mario Balotelli would return to training next week and that he would join the Rossoneri on their pre-season tour of the United States.

“Balotelli? Mario will come back with desire on the 21st and he will come with us to the US. We have an important core and the older players will have to help me to give an example to their teammates. The group is the important thing.”
