The FIGC’s Federal Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the alleged anti-semitic chants sung by some Lazio fans towards Roma in the Derby della Capitale. 

The two sides battled it out in a tense and edgy affair in the Italian capital on Sunday, a match which the Biancocelesti won 1-0 thanks to a Felipe Anderson strike. The atmosphere and bitterness of the rivalry was palpable ahead of the match and things seemingly turned ugly in the stands of the Stadio Olimpico.

As announced by the FIGC, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office has decided to open an investigation into the alleged anti-semitic chants sung by some Lazio fans towards the Roma supporters. It seemingly occurred several times before the match started as well as during the game itself.

The investigation will look to detail how many supporters were singing these chants and what steps Lazio will take to prevent these kind of incidents and attempt to identify those responsible.
