Javier Zanetti has reflected on Massimo Moratti selling Inter, rumours that he didn’t get along with Andrea Stramaccioni and on his dressing room influence.

The Nerazzurri see reports this week that their President is apparently in negotiations with Indonesian tycoon Erick Thohir over possible investment ranging from a 20-30 per cent sale in shares to a full takeover being arranged.

“I know the passion of the President and that his family are for Inter, this is something for him to consider,” mused Zanetti to reporters today.

“We must wait, what matters is that the President stays within Inter, which for him is very important.

“Will he sell? I do not know, but an Inter without President Moratti is difficult to imagine.”

Zanetti was asked of the rumours that he and Esteban Cambiasso had an issue with departed Coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

“My relationship with him has always been honest, after my operation he came to visit me in hospital and told me that I am important for the team and wanted me at preseason even on crutches.

“He also came to the party for my restaurant, and this is enough of an answer. If someone sees that it is convenient to put certain items in the newspapers, claiming that we have a problem, I do not care.

“Why did he leave? Unfortunately he had a difficult year, we lost a lot of games. Strama began well with a winning run, then many components have seen that we did not qualify for Europe, so we are all responsible.

“He has paid as he was the Coach. I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all these years together, he encountered a lot of difficulties and has always acted like a professional.”

The full-back was asked of rumours that Argentine players in the dressing room are overly influential.

“These rumours come out in times of trouble, the senatori, as you call them, have always behaved in a professional manner and with respect, trying always to honour Inter.

“We cannot clarify these reports every time they come out. You have known me for 18 years, I’m not with you in one way and with others in another way.

“You have to ask my teammates how they behave, these renowned senatori, then you can make your assessments.”

Attention then turned to Inter next season, with Walter Mazzarri as Coach.

“I do not know Mazzarri personally, but I know his work from other teams. We are talking about a Coach who has always done well and I hope he does the same with us.

“He has significant experience with each of his teams, who have played well. After a season like this, with great difficulty, he may be the man we need.

“Will Inter be signing Ezequiel Lavezzi? He likes Milan, he comes to eat at my restaurant, but from there I cannot say if he will be playing for us…”
