Inter's Roberto Mancini says 'Roma were always strong', whilst discussing Luciano Spalletti and Francesco Totti.

The Nerazzurri face a tough hurdle tomorrow evening at 19:45, as they attempt to close the five-point gap with the Giallorossi.

But their adversaries may be somewhat distracted by the rumoured departure of their legendary captain.

The Nerazzurri face a tough hurdle tomorrow evening at 19:45, as they attempt to close the five-point gap with the Giallorossi.

But their adversaries may be somewhat distracted by the rumoured departure of their legendary captain.

“Totti doesn't need my advice on the subject,” Mancini told the Press. “There are already quite a few people talking about this.

“It doesn't matter if we field a different number of midfielders than Roma, the game's played with eleven players. I don't think we'll have problems related to the formation.

“What can I say about [Adem] Ljajic? We've already discussed him extensively and there's little to add.

“We'll see how he fares against his former team. He really wants to impress.

“Who could succed Antonio Conte for the Azzurri? I really have no idea. As for [Edin] Dzeko, he's the same as [Ivan] Perisic.

“He showed light and shade, but he's very strong. I think he can do really well at Roma.

“[Jonathan] Biabiany can be resource as the game progresses. He could certainly be subbed in and changed the game.

“If we lose, it's going to be much harder to catch up. But there are many points to be played for and everything is possible as long as mathematics allow for it.

“Having said that, winning would open up the race until the end.”

Mancini was then asked for his opinion on the work of rival Coach Luciano Spalletti.

“Roma were always strong. In January they picked up some new players that gave extra value, but the quality was there.

“Spalletti deserves some credit, because he already knew the environment and he added some values.

“But [former Coach Rudi] Garcia did well too and that shouldn't be forgotten. He isn't worth less than Luciano, but the latter knew the environment better.

“Italy's ranking? It's a bit of a bad moment with the Italian teams crashing out of the cups.

“Things are tougher now and it will take a few years to take back our fourth Champions League spot.”
