Director Beppe Marotta confirmed in today’s presentation Press conference with Antonio Conte that the Dzeko talks were becoming increasingly complicated.

“It’s still something of a chess game where buyer and seller are playing with their strategy. I cannot deny Dzeko and Barella are objectives for us, the clubs are trying to find the right deal, there is a player who appreciates the destination and we are still in the negotiation phase to find a breakthrough.”

According to Sky Sport Italia, that could also mean waiting a few months and snapping up Dzeko as a free agent next summer.

The 33-year-old Bosnia international’s contract with Roma is due to expire in June 2020, which is why Inter consider the €20m asking price to be excessive.

The Nerazzurri have so far offered only €10m with the loan of a youth team player, so the two clubs are a very long way off any agreement.
