The former captain is widely expected to move on this summer, as the Aquile failed to qualify for Europe.

According to Sport Mediaset, Inter made their first offer, proposing a cash sum plus defender Andrea Ranocchia – currently on loan at Sampdoria – and winger Jonathan Biabiany.

However, Sky Sport Italia claim Atletico Madrid have also sent word that they are prepared to pay €14m plus €1m-€2m in performance-related bonuses.

While this would be a pure cash transaction, which is preferred by Lazio, the Roman club wants €25m for Candreva.

It’s reported that with mediation from his agent that price-tag could be whittled down to €20m.

The 29-year-old right-winger is under contract with Lazio until June 2019.

This season he scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 44 competitive games.
