Inter are expected to hold a meeting with Romelu Lukaku’s parent club Chelsea immediately after the Champions League final on June 10 to discuss the options surrounding the Belgian’s future with the Nerazzurri.

The 30-year-old’s loan deal from the West Londoners is set to expire at the end of June, but still has another three full seasons left on his Chelsea contract, meaning that his permanent signing is not particularly straightforward, especially given that Chelsea spent over €110m to sign him from Inter two years ago.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea still value their asset in the region of €70m and will be reluctant to make any further losses on their original investment.

However, the paper also details that Lukaku is reluctant to return to the Premier League, instead adamant that Serie A is the best division to suit his style of play and personal life.

On the other hand, the interjection of prospective new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino could be crucial for Chelsea, as the Argentine reportedly would like to have Lukaku at his disposal should he take over at Stamford Bridge as has been widely reported in recent weeks.

Despite the fact that Lukaku’s performances have improved significantly over the last two months, La Gazzetta writes that a permanent transfer is “unthinkable.” Inter would also need Lukaku to take a cut on his current salary, which currently stands at around €11m gross per season.

All of the options are set to be put on the table in June, when representatives from the London and Milan clubs will meet for a “summit” on Lukaku’s future.
