Inter are unsure about the reliability of Marko Arnautovic and Alexis Sanchez, and so are planning a possible January move for Porto’s Mehdi Taremi.

The Nerazzurri were interested in making a move for the 31-year-old Iranian striker in the summer but were unable to reach a deal with Porto, who weren’t keen to lose the player. A lack of time in the transfer window pushed the club to make late moves for Arnautovic and Sanchez.

Arnautovic and Sanchez have both failed to prove particularly convincing in the first few months of the season, scoring just one goal between them. The former has been sidelined since September with a hamstring injury and the latter has struggled for consistent minutes.

Page four of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Taremi has decided not to pen a new contract with Porto, making him available on a free transfer next summer. Inter have not forgotten about the Iranian and are now studying a move.

The Nerazzurri are open to a January transfer for the 31-year-old, but much depends on his wage demands.
