Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been in constant contact with Milan’s management and his return could be finalised imminently, reports detail.

The 42-year-old Swede played a key role for the Rossoneri during his second spell at the club, spending three-and-a-half years in the squad after his return in July 2020.

During his second spell, Ibrahimovic acted as an experienced leader and mentor to the young Milan squad, guiding them to the Scudetto in the 2021-22 season. He hung up his boots and retired from playing at the end of last season.

Page two of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Ibrahimovic has been in constant contact with Milan over the last few weeks and things have been progressing positively, with many keen to see the Swede return.

In particular, Stefano Pioli would love to welcome the former striker back to the club, wanting him to be in daily contact with the squad. The pair have a strong relationship and the coach believes Ibrahimovic would be perfect in an operational role near the first team.

Milan owner Gerry Cardinale is expected to be in the stands of the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza for Milan’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain on November 7 and his return to the city could also be the prelude to a new meeting with Ibrahimovic.
