Samir Handanovic insists Inter are still not at their best despite their 16-match unbeaten start to Serie A.

The Nerazzurri battled to a goalless draw at defending champions Juventus last night, a result which kept them top of the table.

Speaking post-match, the goalkeeper also expressed his belief that training under Coach Luciano Spalletti has played a key role in his side’s success.

“In my opinion, however you train that is how you will play,” Handanovic explained.

“The boss is a hammer in training. Every training session is like a match, on Sunday nothing changes.

“We have improved a lot in terms of that but we are still not at our best. Even tonight we could have done something more.”

It was put to Handanovic that Inter’s mean defence was another of the factors behind their surprise Scudetto challenge.

“The team defends well, all of the team attacks.

“We are doing some great defensive work, credit goes to the boss and his coaching staff.

“That is key. In Italy, the best defences win League titles. I think that this fact is significant.”

The shot-stopper added that maintaining a winning mentality will be vital in the coming weeks and months.

“This is our mentality, we always need to play to win.

“Then, there is the opposition who try to give you problems, you can’t always do what you want.

“I think we could have done something more [against Juventus].”
