Rafinha’s agent-father has confirmed that Inter will meet Barcelona ‘next week’ to settle the midfielder’s future.

Rafinha enjoyed a productive loan spell at Inter during the second half of the past season, helping them qualify for the Champions League, but boss Luciano Spalletti recently admitted his club could not afford their €35m option to buy the Brazilian.

Rafinha’s agent-father has confirmed that Inter will meet Barcelona ‘next week’ to settle the midfielder’s future.

Rafinha enjoyed a productive loan spell at Inter during the second half of the past season, helping them qualify for the Champions League, but boss Luciano Spalletti recently admitted his club could not afford their €35m option to buy the Brazilian.

“We’re still waiting. Inter and Barcelona will have a meeting next week to resolve this problem, but we don’t know what will happen,” former Fiorentina man Mazinho told Goal.com.

“Missing the World Cup? It’s not easy for a player who goes through a good spell and suddenly gets injured.

“Knowing you’re in a good run of form and then being halted by an injury makes you very down.

“He knew he was missing important games, and his drop in motivation was huge. The recovery time was very long and [Brazil boss] Tite didn’t get the chance to know him better.

“It was very bad for us all but in any case, he got back to playing well and had an important role at Inter, where he was happy again.”
