Inter’s season deserves ‘a 6/10 mark’ according to director Piero Ausilio, who wants to ‘build the team around Mauro Icardi’.

The Nerazzurri had been leading the Serie A table in January but have since slid down the standings to fourth place and now face an uphill struggle to reach the Champions League.

“I would give Inter a 6/10 for this season,” Ausilio told Radio Anch’io lo Sport.

“I repeat that at the start of the season nobody thought Inter would be in this position. The 6/10 could be improved, but I don’t feel like giving a low mark to our season.

“Icardi is too important a player to deprive ourselves of. At his age nobody had already scored 50 goals, he’s our captain and we will build the team around him.

“We’re trying to do everything possible to get back to the top positions in the table.

“Italianise Inter? I would like to a lot, Eder is a signal in that direction. We’re trying to but it isn’t easy.

“Biabiany and Icardi are two players who arrived in our country many years ago and can be considered almost Italian.”
