Roberto Mancini’s side had already approached the former Fiorentina player in January, but City turned down all offers.

At the same time, the Montenegro international was dropped from the UEFA list, which infuriated him and sparked a likely summer exit.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Inter have kept up negotiations with Manchester City over the last couple of months and are laying the groundwork for this transfer.

The sticking point is that City want to sell Jovetic outright, whereas Inter would prefer a loan with option to buy.

That would give the Nerazzurri some wiggle-room if the spell doesn’t go as planned, which is why Lukas Podolski will return to Arsenal after his loan expires in June.

Juventus had been heavily linked with Jovetic in the past, but seem to have turned their focus to Palermo’s Paulo Dybala instead.
