Inter President Steven Zhang was asked for news on the imminent return of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea and his response spoke louder than words.

The patron was driving away from the club headquarters after signing a contract extension with coach Simone Inzaghi to June 2024.

Zhang, the son of Suning chief Zhang Jindong, was asked if he was happy at the Inzaghi news and said yes.

He was then asked “if Lukaku arrives, you will be more happy?”

The wide grin and laugh from Zhang said it all.

Negotiations are in progress to bring Lukaku back to San Siro on loan from Chelsea at a cost of €7m plus bonuses.

The centre-forward is prepared to take a massive pay cut to push through the move, as he regrets the €113m transfer to Chelsea last summer.
