Inter have re-ignited their interest in Francesco Acerbi as they look for a low-cost defensive reinforcement.

The Nerazzurri’s difficult financial situation means that their transfer market mobility is extremely limited now, especially if Milan Skriniar isn’t sold to Paris Saint-Germain after all. It’s unlikely that any major moves will be made from now on, forcing Beppe Marotta to work on low-cost deals.

As reported by La Repubblica, Inter are working on selling Andrea Pinamonti to either Atalanta or Sassuolo, and they’re hoping to pick up around €20m from this deal. Once they’ve finalised his departure, the Nerazzurri will look to invest a small amount of that into Acerbi, a player coach Simone Inzaghi knows very well.

Acerbi handed in a transfer request at the end of last season after suffering a complete relationship breakdown with the fans, something which is still rumbling on to this day. Maurizio Sarri had to intervene during the pre-season training camp to stop fans booing and jeering the former Sassuolo man.

  1. @Juvenesia – nooooooo Bremer was the replacement, ooooohhhhhh wait, just like Gary Neville said – asking for ‘the best accounts to follow on Italian bonds / bank problems

  2. Putuco
You mean the team that is poorer than a homeless has got Lukaku, asllani, belanova mikitarian, bellanova and onana! Not to mention Gosens. So what are the others worse than?

  3. When I see so many rival fans’ comments under Inter news, I smell something delicious, FEAR. Fear of suffering. I can’t wait for the new season to start.

  4. @all-inter, Gosens arrived in the winter and we did not know what happened to him because he has barely played. Lukaku, free, Mickey free, Asllani and Bellanova were the only purchases and they are squad team players. When your club sells Skriniar, don’t be salty or bitter because we told you!

  5. putuco… it’s nothing wrong with paying a little to bolster a team, it’s actuality smart. However, being smart isn’t something you know much about it!

  6. I saw this coming a mile away. Marotta never said Skriniar is absolutely off the market so it won’t surprise me if they still end up selling him, probably close to deadline day so they can bring in a player like Acerbi and act like they didn’t have enough time to scout for better players like they did with Lukaku and Dzeko. Inter have not paid a transfer fee for a single player. Suning will gradually drag Inter down with them if fans don’t speak up and force them to sell the club.
