Edin Dzeko has been an important part of Simone Inzaghi’s squad this season and Inter are not keen to lose the Bosnian next summer.

The 36-year-old veteran has played 1036 minutes of action across 18 games in Serie A and the Champions League this season, filling an important role in the absence of star striker Romelu Lukaku. Dzeko has scored six goals and provided three assists under Inzaghi this campaign, being an important point of reference in the squad.

As detailed by FcInter1908, Inter have been impressed with Dzeko’s hard work this season and do not want to lose him when his contract expires next June. The club have opened contract renewal talks with the Bosnian’s entourage, looking to offer him a one-year extension.

The 36-year-old joined the Nerazzurri from Roma last year in a deal worth around €2.8m. In his first season in the Lombard capital, Dzeko scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in 49 games across all competitions.
