Italian stadiums are opening back up to 50 per cent capacity, but that still means Liverpool fans have only 2,180 tickets available for the Champions League trip to Inter.

The open-air arenas in Italy have never gone back to full capacity after the initial lockdown in March 2020, at most reaching 75 per cent.

That was cut down to 50 per cent after the surge of COVID-19 cases caused by the Omicron variant, then in January was reduced further to just 5,000 per stadium.

Now that this wave has subsided, the Government has given permission for clubs to get back to 50 per cent capacity.

It’s still extremely damaging for the sides, especially when they would’ve made so much revenue from a big match like the Champions League Round of 16.

Liverpool have announced they have been allocated only 2,180 tickets for the game against Inter at San Siro on Wednesday February 16.

There are also 220 top category seats as part of the players, staff and VIP allocation.

Although it is only 50 per cent capacity, only those with a Green Pass or NHS COVID vaccination travel pass may be allowed into Italian stadiums, valid for all fans from 12 years on upwards.

  1. it’s ok – it just means that only 2180 fans will be celebrating after the game – i’d say that’s enough for a good party !
