The Nerazzurri youth product signed on an initial loan basis from Newcastle United, in a move that will keep him in Serie A at least until the end of the season.

In spite of controversy over the player's desires to return, his agent Renzo Contratto revealed the 24-year-old was delighted with his destination.

“The opportunity of returning to Inter over the last few days of the mercato presented itself and Davide had not doubt about this solution,” said the agent in an interview with FcInterNews.it.

“Inter are delighted with the outcome of the operation and so is the player.

“The Nerazzurri were not the only team interested in him. In the Premier League there were two or three teams that wanted him, but the player had no doubts about his destination.

“As for the rumours that the player would have preferred Milan, that's just talk, gossip of no use.”

Contratto confirmed that Santon's 10th appearance with the Inter shirt would trigger a mandatory purchase clause for the Nerazzurri, and was asked whether there was an agreement for a new contract to follow.

“Yes, certainly. We have clear plans on this aspect.”
