The Nerazzurri were top of Serie A just seven games ago, but have fallen to fifth in the table and have city rivals Milan breathing down their necks.

“The most important thing now is not to drop any more points than we already have,” Jesus told Lance in his native Brazil.

“At the beginning of the season we were top, but we had some problems. At this point in the season we’re paying for those problems we had in decisive moments.

“Now we’re fifth and we have to take it game-by-game and try to get three points in every match.

“We need to get as many points as possible to finish second or at least third and secure Champions League qualification, which was one of our objectives this year.

“Our team has great quality and technical ability. We need to improve a lot in the final third, because we do everything right and then get it wrong at the end, with the last touch or the final ball.

“It’s also a matter of concentration. I think we need to be a bit more calm when it comes to the final ball and make sure we do it properly.

“A decisive goal could come from that, and that’s what we’re missing to improve.

“We’re working hard though, and we’ll ensure we do those things better.”
