Milan and Inter have both informed the city council that two stadiums cannot coexist in the site of the current San Siro.

The council’s insistence on retaining San Siro led to suggestions the stadium would be renovated while Milan and Inter both worked on building a new venue nearby.

However, a meeting between the three parties on Tuesday saw the two clubs unite against the municipality,

Milan President Paolo Scaroni was joined by managing director Ivan Gazidis, whilst CEO Alessandro Antonello represented Inter.

A Press release stated “the study has demonstrated the non-sustainability of the coexistence between two stadiums, due to criticalities generated by acoustic and roadway impacts, the management flows and security.”
