Inter director Beppe Marotta insists the Nerazzurri are not thinking about Paulo Dybala and ensures Simone Inzaghi will remain in charge next season.
Inter visit Juventus at the Allianz Stadium tonight. It kicks off at 19.45 UK time. Paulo Dybala starts his last deby d’Italia in Serie A with the Bianconeri shirt but has been linked with a move to Inter. “I hope it will be a thrilling game and a great spot for Italian football between two storied clubs,” Marotta told DAZN.
“As for Dybala, of course, circumstances link him with me because we’ve spent a few seasons together, but I can’t enter the dynamics of why he won’t extend [with Juventus]. I am aware of that, but that’s the end of the matter really.”
Marotta signed Dybala at Juventus from Palermo in 2015 for €40m. La Joya won’t extend his contract with Juventus after the club told him that he is no longer part of their plans for the future.
“Right now, the attacking department mirrors our needs, we have a few youngsters out on loan, including Satriano. As of today, we have no problems in attack,” continued Marotta.
“We are aware of the situation. Juventus have other players with a contract expiring, like Inter and Milan. The are many dynamics to be considered with eight games remaining before the end of the season.”
Inter have collected just 11 points in the last nine games, ten fewer than Juventus, who are the best Serie A team in 2022.
“Our path was extraordinary until January, but it doesn’t reflect our current performances,” Marotta admitted.
“It’s part of the game. We trust Inzaghi for what he’s done and what he’ll do. He’s been criticised because coaches are always the first ones to be criticised when results are not there.
“We have assessed him positively and he will continue with us. Now we must understand why we’ve had this drop.”
Only one point divides Juventus and Inter in the Serie A table, but the Nerazzurri have a game in hand. Follow the game live on the Football Italia Liveblog here.
