Robin Gosens will not take part in Inter’s decisive Champions League knockout match against Porto.

The Nerazzurri edged out a 1-0 win over the Portuguese outfit in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie, giving them a slight advantage heading into the return game in Portugal.

Gosens did not start in that first leg, coming on after 58 minutes to replace Federico Dimarco, who has grown into the preferred option for Simone Inzaghi on the left side of the five-man midfield.

As announced by Inter, Gosens underwent a round of medical tests today after feeling some pain in the medial collateral ligament of his left leg. Whilst no serious injury was discovered, he’ll still be rested for the upcoming clash with Porto.

With the international break fast approaching, the German wing back could be rested until the match against Fiorentina, scheduled for April 1.

Gosens has made 33 appearances across all competitions this season for Inter, for a total of 1172 minutes. In that time, he’s scored two goals.
