With Edin Dzeko now off the table, Inter are looking to Fernando Llorente, Ante Rebic, Timo Werner, Alexis Sanchez or Arkadiusz Milik.

Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku had been the first names on Antonio Conte’s list, but the Bosnian signed a new contract with Roma to June 2022 this evening.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Nerazzurri have been working in the background on other candidates, just in case they couldn’t get Dzeko.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Nerazzurri have been working in the background on other candidates, just in case they couldn’t get Dzeko.

Llorente is a free agent after his Tottenham Hotspur contract expired and has also been heavily linked with Napoli, but he may well be the final choice.

Rebic of Eintracht Frankfurt turns 26 next month and would cost in the region of €40m, while he is not a consistent goal-scorer.

Werner is again from the Bundesliga, the 23-year-old RB Leipzig hitman has 10 goals in 25 senior caps for Germany.

That kind of record also means his price-tag is in the €65-70m bracket, probably too much for Inter considering how much they shelled out for Romelu Lukaku.

A cheaper alternative is Alexis Sanchez, who Manchester United are trying to loan out with the Old Trafford side paying half his €9.5m per year salary.

Nonetheless, it’s reported the Chile international turned down a move to Roma today.

There is a very intriguing proposition put forward by Sky Sport Italia, which is that Inter could go for Milik, in turn sending Mauro Icardi to Napoli.

This would suit all parties, both would be valued at €60-70m, and the clubs could also combine to block the plans of their Scudetto rivals Juventus.

Icardi has until now been holding out only for Juve, but the new situation with Dzeko staying could prompt a rethink.
