Inter are hopeful of bringing Erik Lamela back to Serie A from Tottenham Hotspur in June, but rumours of Roma interest are dissipating.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Nerazzurri are laying the groundwork for a summer swoop.

They have the advantage of director Walter Sabatini, who co-ordinates Inter with Jiangsu Suning, as he is the man who first brought Lamela to Italy for Roma in 2011.

The forward was bought for €17m from River Plate and sold to Spurs two years later for almost double that figure.

Lamela has struggled in the Premier League, above all with fitness issues, and a return to Serie A is on the cards for next season.

There were reports of Roma interest in bringing him back to the Stadio Olimpico, but Sky Sport Italia transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio insists there is no truth in those rumours.
