The defender arrived as a free agent over the summer when his contract with Manchester United expired.

Despite big expectations and talk of his experience helping the Nerazzurri, Vidic has struggled to adapt to Serie A.

He gave away two penalties, received a red card and made some costly errors, so Sport Mediaset and the Daily Express claim the 33-year-old Serb could even be released mid-season back to his old club.

Options to replace him are Rolando, who was already on loan from Porto last season, and Tottenham centre-back Vlad Chiriches.
