Former Inter President Massimo Moratti backs his team: 'Juventus have everything to lose, we are more light-hearted'.

The 70-year-old saw his team flounder in the first season after his sale to Erick Thohir, but heading into this Sunday's Derby d'Italia they face a struggling rival.

“I didn't expect Juve to be in so much trouble,” he told Tuttosport. “It's true that they've lost important players like [Andrea] Pirlo, [Arturo] Vidal and [Carlos] Tevez, but above all they've been very unlucky in individual episodes.

“Juve will play a serious game, I'm convinced of that, and we'll do the same.

“But I wouldn't place Inter and Juve on the same level. Even though we're further ahead in the standings, we can play with a lighter heart.

“And usually, when it comes to games like this or like a derby, whoever comes in most light-hearted also ends up playing well.

“This is an important game for Juventus. Considering the standings, they can't afford to make mistakes.

“Should they go to -11, the situation would become heavy. For us, instead, the priority is not losing.

“But there's more. The game is a test of our maturity. And we have to pass it.

“I'm sure that the players are preparing the game properly. [Coach Roberto] Mancini is good and he's doing some good work.”

Apparently, Inter supporters say that when Mauro Icardi is on the pitch, the game starts from 1-0 for the Nerazzurri.

“I hope that's true, and I hope he can confirm his skills again.

“Mauro is a great striker and a serious lad. And he's the classic player who does best in the great games.”
