Juventus are reportedly in the final stages of negotiating a deal for Lille defender Tiago Djalo, who had been set to join Serie A leaders Inter on a free transfer in the summer. Recent reports suggest the Nerazzurri will not put in a counter-offer to sign the 23-year-old this window.

Calciomercato.com reports that Inter’s current defensive set-up, which includes Benjamin Pavard, Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni, plus Matteo Darmian, Stefan De Vrij and Yann Bisseck as back-ups, is likely to remain as it is for the time being.

Inter have already invested €10m this transfer window in the arrival of Tajon Buchanan from Club Brugge, which means they are unlikely to put in a raised offer for Djalo at this stage.

Instead, Inter’s priority will reportedly be to identify another option at wing-back.

Even though they have just signed Buchanan, Inter will likely part ways with Juan Cuadrado, who will turn 36 in May and whose one-year contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

Denzel Dumfries could also be moving on in the summer, as he will only have one year left on his contract after the 2023-24 season. Negotiations over a renewal with the Dutchman have presented difficulties and, with interest from abroad, Inter could be tempted into selling.

For this reason, the Nerazzurri will look to identify another option to compete with Buchanan ahead of the 2024-25 season, but are unlikely to make too many alterations to the squad this month.
