Inter have reportedly become frustrated with winger Alexis Sanchez after his decision to fly to South America to team up with Chile during the international break after reports that the 34-year-old has been diagnosed with a form of anaemia.

Sanchez, who re-joined Inter on a free transfer this summer, has not yet been called up by Simone Inzaghi this term, but deemed himself fit enough to take part in Chile’s World Cup qualifiers during the break in domestic action.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona wide-man was not part of the squad that lost 3-1 to Uruguay on Saturday night, but has reportedly since returned to training ahead of his nation’s qualifier against Colombia in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Reports from Sky Sport Italia claim that a set of worrying medical test results showed that Sanchez’s red blood cell count was considerably lower than expected, suggesting some form of anaemia.

According to Calciomercato.com, Inter are frustrated at the handling of the situation, and would have preferred that Sanchez stayed in Milan on this occasion.

The Nerazzurri had hoped that Sanchez would prioritise his form and fitness at club level before jetting off to South America.

Inter are believed to have been aware of Sanchez’s non-ideal physical condition at the time of his signing, but had agreed a plan, including a specialised diet to get him back on the pitch as quickly as possible.

This is, however, not the first time that Inter have become frustrated with Sanchez, as there was also a similar situation during his first stint with the club while Antonio Conte was in charge.
