Inter have confirmed that defender Stefan de Vrij picked up a muscular issue during last night’s 1-0 win away to Liverpool.

The centre-back went off at half-time at Anfield in the Champions League Round of 16 tie.

Tests were performed in Milan today that showed a strain to the soleus muscle in his left leg, although the good news is there are no lesions.

This is a calf injury and the statement from the medical staff notes his condition will be re-evaluated over the next few days.

De Vrij is expected to miss this weekend’s Serie A match with Torino on Sunday evening.

He already missed over three weeks from November to December with another muscular issue.

Marcelo Brozovic also had an injury scare during the Liverpool game on Tuesday night and his test results are not expected until tomorrow.

Nicolò Barella is available again, having missed both legs of the Champions League Round of 16 due to suspension.
