According to the Corriere dello Sport today, Chinese owners Suning Group are ready to spend €50m on getting Simeone to the club.

His contract with Atletico Madrid was recently shortened to June 2018, because he wants to play in their new stadium next season before moving on.

There is a release clause and paying that would be added to the €5m plus bonuses per year wages he currently earns.

Inter only signed Stefano Pioli last week on a contract to June 2018, so the groundwork is set for Simeone’s arrival on that date, but it’s possible the reunion could be brought forward.

Pioli will make his debut on the bench in tomorrow night’s Milan Derby, as Frank de Boer was sacked after just 84 days in charge.
