West Ham United may have to stump up €30m in order to keep Inter midfielder Joao Mario on a permanent basis.

According to Calciomercato.com, West Ham are keen for Joao Mario to stay beyond his loan spell, which has seen him help the club avoid relegation from the Premier League.

However, the website warns Inter are facing a €28m black hole on their balance sheet, as part of the €44m they agreed to pay Sporting CP for the 25-year-old, and must raise that figure to avoid any losses.

CM admits it is unlikely any club, let alone the Hammers, will spend €30m on the Portugal international, so another loan could be negotiated, although with an option to buy this time.

That way, the Nerazzurri would not only defer his sale for another season but also incur no losses.
