Inter President Massimo Moratti released a statement this evening insisting rumours of talks with Fabio Capello are “entirely without foundation.”

The former England manager has been repeatedly linked with the Nerazzurri over the years and confirmed some preliminary negotiations were held over the summer.

“The theories reported by the media regarding a possible change of management, either now or at the end of the season, are entirely without foundation,” Moratti declared on the official Inter website.

“The latest rumour, regarding Fabio Capello’s arrival at Inter, is equally unfounded.”

Claudio Ranieri’s position has become shaky after the 4-0 defeat to Roma and Italian newspapers suggested Capello would be brought in for next season.
