Sky Sport Italia claim that Inter are ready to sign Cesar Azpilicueta as a free agent once he has terminated his contract with Chelsea.

The veteran Spanish defender will turn 34 in August and brings a great deal of versatility for coach Simone Inzaghi, as he can play as a right-back, on the left or in central defence.

It is in the centre that Inter seemingly want Azpilicueta for next season as a replacement for Milan Skriniar, who is heading to Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.

Azpilicueta’s contract with Chelsea runs to June 2024, but it seems likely he will negotiate to terminate it early by mutual consent, therefore freeing him up for a new experience at San Siro.

The player started his career at Osasuna before finding fame at Olympique Marseille in 2010 and switching to Chelsea two years later.

He has made 508 official appearances in the Chelsea jersey, scoring 17 goals and providing 56 assists.
