Inter director Beppe Marotta said they hope Milan Skriniar will sign a new contract by November 13 and it’s reported he is ready to accept a far lower salary than the one Paris Saint-Germain were promising.

The defender’s current deal only runs to June 2023 and he could in theory already begin negotiating for a free transfer from the end of January.

That is what PSG were openly waiting for, never disguising their attempts to poach the centre-back after a summer of seeing their offers rejected by Inter.

Their bids are believed to have reached circa €70m in the final days of the transfer window, by which point Inter’s demands had shot up to €90m.

CEO Marotta said before last night’s Champions League game against Bayern Munich that there was optimism Skriniar could sign the new deal by November 13.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, this won’t mean Inter breaking the salary cap of €6.5m, but will allow for some leeway with the aid of performance-related bonuses.

It’s still a far cry from the €9m per season that PSG had put on the table, but Skriniar is very fond of Inter and sees no reason to leave, especially after seeing the club fight so hard to keep him.

  1. Bremer ended up at a bigger club that lost to an unknown side for their first ever CL victory? xD while Inter beating Barcelona.
The great club with 3points in group , finished 3th only because Maccabi Haifa concede more goals lmao. glad we kept Skriniar
